Native By Nature
Writing Where Nature, Memory, and Meaning Intertwine

Meet - Stephen Pryce Lea

Stephen Pryce Lea is a Welsh-born horticulturist, ecological designer, and lifelong steward of the land. Raised in the misty hills of Montgomeryshire, he learned early that plants are teachers and landscapes hold memory.

His career has spanned UK estates, European woodlands, and the wild edges of the American East Coast, where he now champions native plants, rewilding, and sustainable garden culture.

Native by Nature is a four-part, season-driven memoir series by horticulturalist and ecologist Stephen Pryce Lea, exploring the deep, lifelong relationship between the human spirit and the living world.

Told through the turning seasons of life — Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter — the series traces one man’s journey across countries, landscapes, and inner thresholds while revealing the profound ecological and emotional truth that we are shaped by the places we love.
