White Scented Evening Primrose Seeds – Oenothera pallida
Oenothera White scented evening primrose blooms attract nocturnal pollinators, moths, and wildlife.
Delicate white evening primrose seeds grow into flowers that appear as if by magic during cooler evenings or early mornings. The flowers give off a light scent that is picked up by the slightest breeze and attracts pollinators.
Oenothera typically is associated with golden yellow flower color, however, for gardeners interested in the delightful evening scent of primrose there are both white and pale pink options.
Early Spring thru Summer these evening trumpets open to invite evening pollinators to feed and distribute pollen, evening primrose prefers the cooler temperatures of spring and fall and tends to go dormant during the hot Summer months.
Fine surface spreading roots and compact growth mounding to no more than two feet these front of the border perennials are best left to ramble through plants and low shrubs in your garden.
White scented evening primrose seeds can be sown directly where they are to flower in Fall or they can be started indoors (*after stratification).
Keen to get a head start on Spring under LED grow lights or on a part sun windowsill.
When sowing indoors timing is essential, starting your seeds too soon can cause the seedlings to become drawn and leggy, too late and you may have well started outdoors.
*The simplest way to stratify seeds is to place seeds and a tablespoon of perlite, horticultural grit, or vermiculate in a snack zip lock bag.
Add a little water two teaspoons approx and then empty your seeds into the mix and keep in the vegetable draw of your refrigerator until ready to sow.
Stratifying white scented evening primrose seeds helps them take up moisture, softens hard seed shells, and prepares the seed embryo for germination.
Please note once you receive dispatch notification it can take up to 24hrs during the week or 48hrs at weekends for USPS to collect and scan your seed envelope, once scanned it can take another 3-5 days to arrive longer during the holiday season or during extreme weather conditions.
