Monarch Butterfly Milkweed seeds Asclepias syriaca fragrant blooms attract pollinators

$4.00

Rose or Common Milkweed grows in mesic soils that drain freely but do not completely dry out.

Hand collected, dried and sorted from seed gathered from our pollinator-friendly plants.

Growing 2-4ft high butterfly milkweed tops off with lavender-pink flowers and attracts a lot of pollinator interest both when in flower, in seed and the large leafy leaves feed and support monarch caterpillars.

Plant in a cottage garden or prairie happy growing amongst grasses and marginal native perennials.
Milkweeds are nectar-rich wildflowers that attract Monarch butterflies, the leaves of the milkweed are an essential food source and a host plant for caterpillars.

Once you have identified the perfect location for your chosen milkweed, next you want to make sure the area retains adequate moisture and is grown well out of the reach of young children. Pet’s should also be kept away from Milkweed as the white milky sap is toxic and must be avoided.

When you start a pollinator garden it is important to consider both the location and growing conditions, some milkweed will thrive in full sun others prefer shelter from the woodland edge.

This milkweed is my personal favorites and beneficial for wildlife as well as plants worthy of space in your garden beds, prairie meadows, and container but may need to be kept in check, can spread when happy or be short-lived where conditions are not suitable.

Easy to grow rose or common Milkweed for Monarch provide caterpillars and butterflies with food and habitat for generations to follow.
